(Frontiers)

On their fifth studio album supergroup Pride Of Lions choose to wrap things up with the masterful set closer Unmasking The Mystery. But it’s far too late. Futile, in fact.

It only takes a couple of songs to unlock the secret of this band’s understated brilliance: Jim Peterik and Toby Hitchcock are a supreme songwriting team with an ear for melody and a talent for crafting the perfect chorus.

Fearless is exactly that – a bold collection of soaring tunes that hark back to the AOR heyday of the late 70s and early 80s. The Tell – with its subtle keys and pin-sharp diction – has vintage Foreigner written all over it and Hitchcock simply never misses a note. Ever.

It’s only the start. In Caricature effortlessly echoes classic Journey and the dreamy Silent Music is simply divine. Where Pride of Lions are concerned even silence is golden.
