Olivia Wynn has revealed faith and family underpin the new Thomas Wynn And The Believers record – due for release this summer.
Growing up in Orlando, Thomas Wynn played guitar and bass in church with his brother while sister Olivia sang in the choir.
“Our parents and our church were certain,” said Olivia, who participated in the Orlando Deanery Girls Choir, where she received vocal training and sang in cathedrals.
“My favorite part was watching my dad listening. I think he was trying to pick out my voice.”
Wade Waist Deep is released via the Mascot Label Group on May 19 and is set to open up Thomas Wynn And The Believers to a whole new audience.
Named the #1 Rock Band and #1 Country/Folk Band in the city for seven consecutive years by the Orlando Weekly, the band’s combination of rock and Southern soul, complemented by Thomas’ self-styled blood harmonies with his sister Olivia, is hauntingly beautiful.
Mixing the best of classic rock, R&B and gospel, the band has played alongside Cheap Trick, Gov’t Mule, Medeski, Martin & Wood, SIMO, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit and Drive-By Truckers.
The birth of Wade Waist Deep saw Thomas Wynn and The Believers traveling from Florida to Sputnik Sound studio in Nashville, where the band recorded with four-time Grammy award-winning producer, Vance Powell (The White Stripes, Jack White, Chris Stapleton). “I really wanted to do it outside of our hometown,” said Wynn.
“I don’t care how many people know my name as long as when they hear my music, it makes them feel something.”
