(Tragic Records)

There’s an overriding sense that fast-rising Londoners Nunchucker are serious students of the rock and roll scene at its dirtiest and most bestial.

Whether it’s the stark, provocative album artwork, devilish songs designed to spark debate (Coffin Nails and She’s On The Pole are typically divisive) or the decision to release Motherfucker Superior exclusively on vinyl – their connection with the genre’s sleazy past underpins a dangerously exciting future.

Snarling frontman Chris Tate takes his nasal lead from Axl Rose, Taime Downe and Jizzy Pearl as he spits out every fresh line with a mixture of vitriol and vivacity.

There’s something strangely addictive about the Geordie singer songwriter’s sneering delivery and it adds much-needed bite to the raucous Rockkid, sprawling Get Free and anthemic opener The Sweet Smell Of Rock N Roll.
