Saxon frontman Biff Byford has branded the band’s brand new boxset a ‘piece of history’ after revealing plans to release The Solid Book Of Rock.

The ambitious project will be available a week after the NWOBHM legends headline the opening night of the 2017 Ramblin’ Man Fair.

And Saxon fans ae in for a treat with 11 CDs and three DVDs spanning an 18-year period in Saxon’s colourful career.

“It’s worth getting just for the art work,” said Byford. “It’s a great piece of Saxon history and don’t forget I get to play King Arthur!

“I didn’t get the Oscar that year. Or anything else for that matter…”.

The Solid Book Of Rock contains all nine of Saxon’s studio albums from 1991 to 2009 as well as eight bonus tracks and two bonus CDs – Classics Re-Recorded (originally issued with the initial pressings of Killing Ground) and Lionheart – Rough Studio Mix (originally issued on the 2006 limited edition of the Lionheart album).

The set also contains three bonus DVDs – the limited edition discs originally released with Lionheart, The Inner Sanctum and Into The Labyrinth.

And this treasure trove for Saxon fans is packaged within a sumptuous 24-page 12”x12” booklet with lyrics, credits and photos plus a fabulous cover painting by Paul R. Gregory.

An exclusive limited edition version containing a print signed by Byford will also be available from Amazon
