Alt rock newbies Kamikaze Test Pilots have likened their new album to a punch in the balls as they prepare to take on the UK this summer.

The brazen trio have shared a video for brilliant single Betty Ford and lined up a September 22 release date for long player Stealing Chameleons.

“It’s a cheeky record,” said the band. “It’s like receiving a beating from a person who’s small in stature. You’re punched in the nuts, kicked in the teeth, and left wondering how that could have happened.”

Stealing Chameleons was conceived at Henwood Studios in Oxfordshire last autumn.

Recorded and mixed by Enrico Tiberi, who also produced the album with the band, it was mastered by Pete Maher (U2 and The Pixies).

Kamikaze Test Pilots started out in 2005 and South African brothers Ryan and Wes Niemandt recruited bass player Simon Buckett four years later.

The RISC and Global Café in Reading hosts the Betty Ford single launch party on Friday before the band embark on a series of UK and European dates this summer.
