Southern rock royalty The Kentucky Headhunters are determined to build their British fan base after founding member Richard Young insisted last summer’s whistle stop tour of the UK was just the start.
The rhythm guitarist’s fear of flying meant the band had missed out on decades of overseas success. But Young was finally persuaded to spread his wings and The Kentucky Headhunters are back in the UK this autumn.
“To disappear from the face of the earth after we were made so welcome last year would have been wrong,” Young told HRH Mag. “On the other hand I firmly believe that absence makes the heart grow fonder!
“You can wear out your welcome if you spend too long in one place but I guess we’re some way off that becoming a problem.
“We can’t wait to get back to the UK and if I’m honest our aim is to come over one day as a support act for Black Stone Cherry. Our ambition is to be one of the bands on their show when they come back to Britain.
“They’re the reason we made it over in the first place and we’re all so close. That’s what we’re building up to.”
