“If you live by the sword you will die the sword,” scream Accept on this brutal blueprint for trad metal and who can argue with the Teutonic powerhouse? It’s the mantra Wolf Hoffman and co. have stayed true to for five decades now and they’re not about to change.

Which is a good thing for all fans of lightning fast riffage and furious vocals. Udo Dirkschneider might be long gone but in Mark Tornillo the German heavyweights have found the natural successor to a seminal metal vocalist.

And it’s little wonder that Accept are enjoying an Indian summer with songs as instantly catchy and sonically ferocious as Hole In The Head, No Regrets and the foreboding set closer Race To Extinction.

Whether The Rise Of Chaos can hope to emulate the commercial success and critical acclaim enjoyed by 2014’s Blind Rage remains to be seen. But Accept couldn’t have done any more to keep the metal pot boiling. This is volcanic stuff.
