It’s never too early for a Christmas album as far as HRH Mag is concerned. But forget the usual mixed bag of Buble standards or Josh Groban’s greatest yuletide hits – this is the real deal. Hell, From Spirits And Ghosts (Score For A Dark Christmas) could give Wizzard a run for their money!
Tarja was always destined to be a festive princess – think the bad one from Frozen with a gothic twist – and her haunting tone underpins a flurry of festive favourites. There’s something almost sinister – and at the same time refreshing – about her unique takes on We Wish You A Merry Christmas and the classic Feliz Navidad.
Brand new single Together is included as an added bonus and if it lacks the seasonal vibe of the previous 11 tunes then it’s a belting anthem in the mould of classic Tarja. Think ghosts, magic, mysticism and warped fantasy – you get the idea.
According to Tarja FSAG(SFADC) explores the darker, lonelier side of Christmas. And it does exist. But don’t let that put you off. As a body of music and a revealing gateway into the festive period it’s the perfect pre-December treat.
