Hard Rock Hell – it’s not just a holiday or a festival for that matter, it’s a way of life.
This week hordes of HRH revellers descended upon San Antonio in anticipation for the start of HRH RTX. Everywhere you looked there were rockers sporting denim and leather, their favourite band/festival shirt and some even went for a slightly more permanent reminder with an HRH tattoo – now that’s dedication for you.
With a significant number of festival punters arriving early this time around, the HRH ‘road crew’ decided to why not go the extra mile and get things underway a day early with an official pre-party at this week’s venue – Ibiza’s world famous super club Eden. And who better to kick off the proceedings than current HRH Radio and Planet Rock favourites Collateral.
On their arrival in Ibiza Ramsgate rockers Collateral weren’t concerned about the heat and getting sunstroke but instead headed straight to the hotel pool and got working on their backstroke. However, this wasn’t the only waves the quartet would make on their debut in sunny San Antonio. The group raised the bar very high on the first night of the event.
Looking like they’ve just walked out of the Whisky A Go Go, Collateral took over Eden – a rock and roll paradise a mere stone’s throw away from Ibiza’s own Sunset Strip. Last night’s show may well be the official pre-cursor to HRH RTX’s week of fist-pumping Balearic festivities, but one thing Collateral proved is that they sure know how to bring the party. And “Midnight Queen” was the anthem that carried the HRH punters through until the small hours on the first night of their annual pilgrimage to the White Island.
Furthermore, the inclusion Collateral’s thunderous new single “Lullaby” was going to do anything but put the crowd to sleep. With their debut album penned for release later in the year, Collateral previewed tracks such as the incredibly catchy “Merry Go Round”, “Promise Land” and “Big Shot”, which certainly whet the crowd’s appetite for more of what is to come.
Even after one Mediterranean dream concludes Collateral are currently in with a shout of opening for Jon Bon Jovi on his forthcoming Med cruise. This adding to an already busy festival season that includes a main stage appearance at Camden Rocks, and their HRH return at C.R.O.W.S in Sheffield this September.
Last night’s closers MRC proved that despite its dance music heritage, that the homegrown metal scene is alive and well in Ibiza – whilst HRH’s resident DJ’s warmed up the crowds delivering some of the finest sets witnessed on Ibiza since Kevin and Perry went large.
